Line of Battle Mission Statement

"The United States is a nation of steel forged in the hell-fire furnaces of war. It had to be, as its initial opponent was forged of that same mettle. America was then case hardened in its own conflict within. From the earliest times both the United States and Great Britain learned that its first line of defense was its navies. From those lessons learned, another bond much stronger than the steel of nationality was forged. The alliance between the two countries, once bitter foes, is now a singular power for freedom. However, it is from the early days when the tenets were set forth by men, who through audacity, courage and devotion to duty, laid the fabric for what are the expectations and resolve of those navies today.
To those bold men of an earlier time, we at Line of Battle dedicate this website and with that same steadfast resolve endeavor to make their names and deeds household names once again. Everyone should know who said, " I have not yet...","England Expects...." , or "We have met the enemy, and they are ours". Every time a portrait or event is acquired, a partnership in this endeavor is formed. If a piece finds placement on a bulkhead, someone else is sure to see it and wonder, maybe enough to go look it up or inquire, maybe even our legacy...our children."
